拓海広志「『Bare Bones』に寄せて」

　心に沁みる温かい詞と心地良いメロディが自然体で結びついた曲の数々。表現はコンテンポラリーなのに、どこかほろ苦くて懐かしい感傷を惹き起こすジャズの名盤だ。僕は最初の曲『Instead』のご機嫌な演奏と歌を偶然耳にしてグッと惹き付けられ、そのまま一気に最後の曲『Notre Dame De Pigalle』まで聴き入ってしまった。

　マデリン・ペルーの歌声には、人生の哀しさや切なさをごまかすことなく素直に受け入れる包容力と、それでも決して希望を捨てないしなやかな強さがある。そのためだろうか、彼女の歌声は何故か聴く人の心をそれぞれの人生における懐かしくて大切な「初心の場」に連れて行ってくれるようだ。
